Church presents three students with scholarships

The Methodist Guild, an organization within the Methodist Church, has presented scholarships to three students of the church to further their education. They are Mavis Nkrumah at the Garden City University College, Helen Lily Prah, Takoradi Senior High School (SHS)and Kweku Essel Dadzie, Berekum SHS. They each received a cheque for GH600.00 at a ceremony at the New Tafo Dunwell Methodist Church in Kumasi. Mr Kwame Boafo, Kumasi Diocesan Lay Chairman, said this was part of the Church's contribution to the development of education. He said they had not limited their activities only to the spiritual upliftment of the members but their physical well-being as well. Mr Boafo said it was on account of this that the Church had been actively engaged in the construction of schools and health facilities among other things. He said the Church, through this, was helping to fight ignorance, poverty, and diseases in the society. Mr Enoch Baah, National President of the Guild, said the scholarship package introduced in the year 2008, was one of the key planks of the Church's development agenda. He said it was meant to give a push to brilliant but needy and committed Guilders. Mr Baah advised the dioceses, circuits and societies to give more support to the socially disadvantaged.
