Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minster has advised players of Kpando Heart of Lions to let their recent successes spur them unto achieving greater success in their soccer careers. "See these successes as just the beginning and let it spur you unto greater heights", he said. Mr Amenowode gave the advice when the management and playing body of the Club presented the 2009 MTN Top Four soccer tournament and the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Cups they won to him at Ho on Monday. The Regional Minister also advised the players to exercise self discipline and resist the urge to play for the so called big teams, adding that "It is better to be a big fish in a small pond than to be a small fish in a big pond". Mr Amenowode predicted that the team stands the chance of winning this year's Premier League Cup if thy show dedication and hard work and that it is not wishful thinking. "It would take a miracle to deny you this year's League Cup," he asserted. He assured the delegation that he would push for the renovation of the Kpando Stadium to international standards with a seating capacity of not less than 10,000 spectators to afford the Club the opportunity to play its international home matches at Kpando. The Minister praised Vincent Ahiakpor, Chief Executive Officer of the Club for his good management practices that has made the team the third soccer force in the country. Mr Yashin Laryea, the Team Manager said the Club was able to qualify for Africa competitions on four occasions but were only able to participate once due to lack of funds and said even that one match was played at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra because of the poor nature of the Kpando Stadium. He said the team needed sponsorship and hoped the Regional Minister would help procure a bus for the Club. Mr Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive also presented the trophies and medals won by some members of the Satellites team at this year's Under-20 World Cup to the Regional Minister and observed that the Club has made the Region proudwith their sterling performances. Mr Amenowode later presented 2,000 Ghana Cedis to the team.
