Ghanaian Actress Picks Job In Nollywood

After her supporting roles in Venus Films Play Boy, Princes Bride and the controversial Heart of Men, the dexterity of emerging Ghanaian actress Romana Afi Sika Dzuali, known among her pals as Sika Da-Biva, seems to have paid off well as she has made a stride into Nigerias Nollywood. She thus joins the clique of Ghanaian actors and actresses whose performances on Ghanaian screens have caught the attention of Nollywood producers. Months ago she was in Nigeria to shoot a movie with working title The Wedding, a ZR-One Global production. The cast of the movie were carefully selected from three different countries including Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria. Sika, who is the only Ghanaian cast member, is playing the lead character alongside big Nollywood names Justus Esiri, Enebeli Elebuwa, and Ricardo Agbor, among others. She returned home barely a month ago. It is a very interesting movie; people should look out for it because it will be a big movie. It is about what people really think and what society makes of the things they see, as mostly people judge others by what they see without looking inward, she said as she talked about the movie in an exclusive interview with BEATWAVES on Sunday. She revealed that working in Nollywood was full of awesome experiences. She said it exposed her to a high level of professionalism in the movie industry. I am privileged to have worked in Nollywood and I am humbled by the fact they gave me the opportunity to prove my talent. She added that she is not swollen-headed by the fact that she has crossed over into Nollywood, describing the opportunity as being by the grace of God. I couldnt believe it. It is through God, she continued. Earlier in the year, Sika threw a challenge to fellow actresses Jackie Appiah and Nadia Buari to watch out for her after she starts getting big roles. Others reported her as saying she is ready for any hot roles. Nollywood came knocking on her door after seeing her potential. While in Nigeria, Sika said she got calls from about five Nollywood producers who showed an interest in her, but she could not make the time to meet with them because of her tight schedule on the set of The Wedding. Sika had a stint in the movie industry in 2008 after she met Abdul Salam, CEO of Venus Films, at an audition for a TV programme. Salam asked if she was interested in acting, she said yes, and that marked the beginning of her acting career.
