Arsene Wenger Is Turning Arsenal Into The Next Barcelona

Thomas Vermaelen insists that he is a total believer in the way manager Arsene Wenger runs things at Arsenal, and reckons that the north London club can end their silverware drought this season. It is no secret that the Frenchman has always been an advocate of playing attractive, free-flowing football while moulding youngsters into the stars of tomorrow, and Vermaelen completely believes in the club's version of the beautiful game. Speaking on the nickname he has been given, the 24-year-old told the News of the World: "I don't mind if people call me 'The Verminator', because if they think I can help toughen the team up when needed, good. "I think I can do that."But the main reason I like playing for Arsenal is the vision of the boss. The way he wants us to play. "I believe we can win trophies playing this way." The former Ajax player elaborated on the master plan that has been put into play by 'The Professor', and claimed that his side are the next Barcelona. Vermaelen continued: "What is the vision? "The vision is basically for a young team who all share the same philosophy to play good football, to grow and eventually win a big trophy. "I know there are many critics who say that playing a certain way then good things can't happen. "But maybe they should just think for a while and look at how a team like Barcelona has grown and how they play. "Look around at their side. They don't have many strong players but they have been winning big trophies."
