Government presents ambulance to Saviour Hospital

The Government has presented an Ambulance valued at 35,000 US dollars to the HAWA Memorial Saviour Hospital at Osiem. The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who made the presentation, said the gesture was in response to a request made by the Saviour Church when President John Evans Atta Mills inaugurated the Hospital early this year. He said the ambulance was donated to the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), by A.J. FUNJ Construction Limited, a construction firm based in Kumasi, but now working at Oterkporlu in the Yilo Krobo District. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo appealed to the management of the Hospital to maintain the place as an institution of excellence and congratulated the church for building the Hospital at a vantage point for the members of the church and other citizens in the area. He expressed his appreciation to the Saviour Church for their contribution towards food production in the country by producing the Eastern Regional Best Farmer this year. The church also produced the best regional student at this year's West African Examination Council's Senior High School Certificate Examination. He challenged the Church to build a Senior High School and put in place plans to build a tertiary institution in the near future. The General Secretary of the Church, Mr Enock Asare, said hitherto, the daily attendance of the Hospital was between six to 11 people because people could not afford to pay for their medical bills. He said since the beginning of this month when the hospital was accredited by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the Out-Patient attendance had increased to 60 per day. Opanyin Abraham Kweku Adusei, General Superintendent of the Church and Chairman for the occasion, said they would not be complacent but would take up the challenge and perform better. He said the church had received requests from chiefs and people of Ntoso and Akomadan to construct hospitals for their communities. He promised that the church would do its best to contribute towards the development of the country.
