"1 Village, 1 Dam"....The Beginning Of Ghana's Success Story - Nhyiaeso MP

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Kennedy Kankam has commended the Akufo-Addo administration for the commencement of the government's "One Village, One Dam" project.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the construction of dams under the "One Village, One dam" policy for the three Northern Regions will commence next month.

Dr. Bawumia disclosed this during this year's celebration of the annual "Paara Gbielle" festival of the Chiefs and people of the Tumu Traditional Area in the Upper West Region.

He said the project will see a total of 570 dams constructed in all three regions of the North.

"For the three Northern Regions, this year we expect to see the construction of a total of 570 dams and we expect to cut the sod for the commencement of this policy within a few weeks to come," Dr. Bawumia is quoted by the Ghanaian Times publication on Monday.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Hon. Kennedy Kankam was hopeful the dams will help improve the Northern sector.

According to him, the North has arable lands which when utilized could be used for irrigation purposes to farms and other activities to ensure development in the three Regions.

In his view, the construction of the dams is the beginning of success at the North and will therefore urged the government not to stall the project but begin as scheduled.

At least, providing the 570 dams at the Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Regions alone is the beginning of the success story of Ghana, which I strongly believe will help a lot”, he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
