Minority Wants Koku Dismissed If....

The Minority in Parliament has finally asked the Speaker of the House to invite the Communications Director at the Presidency before the Privileges Committee. The Minority feels insulted by Mr Koku Anyidohos comments against Minority Chief Whip Fred Opare Ansah and Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu. Mr Anyidoho described the two MPs as irresponsible and also used the word nonsense against them when he spoke on Citi Fms Eyewitness News a week ago. He was reacting to calls by the Minority that President John Mills names publicly, two persons whom; according to economist Kwame Pianim attempted influencing the President with two envelopes on two different occasions. Mr. Anyidoho has since received countless flak over his comments. The Chief of Staff, Mr. Henry Martey Newman, according to Citi Fm sources intervened and asked the Minority to give Mr. Anyidoho a little time to render a public apology. The ultimatum was extended for 24 more hours yesterday, December 17, when the Minority Leader stopped Hon Fred Opare Ansah from raising the matter on the floor of the House until today, Friday, December 18, pending Mr Anyidohos apology. Mr Anyidoho is currently with the President attending the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit. He told Citi News from Copenhagen on Thursday that he will deal with the matter appropriately upon his return to Ghana on Saturday, Devember 19. The Minority, led by the Deputy Minority leader, Ambrose Dery, on Friday however went ahead to petition the House to take up the matter and refer it to the privileges committee. The Minority also wants Mr. Anyidoho stripped of his position as Director of Communications at the Presidency if he fails to apologize. The Member of Parliament for Kade, Hon Ofosu Asamoah, told Citi News that we may call on the presidency to dismiss him if he fails to render the apology.
