Archivists And Records Association Holds Seminar For Its Members

Archivists And Records Managers Association of Ghana (ARMAG) across the country have been schooled on the current trend of how to capture information in various institutions with the paperless approach in mind.

The training under the theme: “From Entrepreneur Content Management to Content Service Platforms; The Journey So Far”, was organized to introduce a software which will help improve record keeping in the country.

Again, the seminar was held to also school members on how to capture information digitally, taking into account institutional information and also to the current paperless campaign being championed by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

Identifying these challenges, ARMAG brought together seasoned professionals to engage the participants from various managers on the funding opportunities available for them.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Musa Adams, President of ARMAG explained that, “We want to introduce our members to the current trend of capturing information in our various institutions with the paperless approach in mind".

According to him, this software will make the role of Archivists and Records Managers easy and simple.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in May 2017 gave three directives at a port efficiency conference he organized to improve trade in the country which includes a hundred percent paperless transactions at the ports and we are also here to that effect.

The seminar, which attracted members from various institutions from the country, numbering close to 80 percent of their members, was put together by ARAG in collaboration with WASP (Managed Document Services) as a sponsor.

ARMAG is the main national professional body in the field of information management in Ghana.

Organizations and institutions generated information in carrying out their mandate in the form of records.

These records need to be effectively managed right from their point of creation to disposition in order to ensure the security and availability of information, when needed.
