Seek Re-Election ! …CAF Boss Prays Nyantakyi

CAF president, Dr Ahmad Ahmad has said in plain words that it will not be out of place should GFA chief Kwesi Nyantakyi seek re-election.

Indications are that the GFA president would be contesting in the 2019 elections, scheduled for 17 months from now, and Ahmad Ahmad has pledged unflinching support for his first Vice president.

Last Wednesday, the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree on the CAF boss for his outstanding leadership and his contribution to the development of sports on the continent.

And in an interview, after the special congregation at the campuses of UPSA, he said if Nyantakyi decides to go for another term, he should be encouraged taking into account what he has achieved on the continent and what Ghana stands to gain.

The CAF chief said “We are here to serve our nation and service to your country comes first and so I will advise him to seek re-election.”

He added “If the government, if people ask him to continue, then why must he stop? The people need him, the stakeholders need him, so why must he not contest again?”

Under Nyantakyi’s watch, Ghana has made a three-streak World Cup appearance-Germany (2006) South Africa (2010) and Brazil (2014) as well as the historic U-20 World Cup feat, U-17 female World Cup among other achievements.
