One more challenger has expressed interest in contesting for the National General Secretary of the NPP, a position held on an acting basis by John Boadu.

His first opposition was former Minister of Trade and Industry under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration, Joe Baidoe-Ansah.

The latest to join is Richard Ahiagbah, who is currently the Director of Communication for the NPP in Chicago, USA.

His decision to contest the position is to provide effective leadership for the NPP to enable the party easily win the 2020 general elections.

Addressing party delegates in the Upper West region, Mr. Ahiagbah said the seeming melee in the NPP is due to administrative weakness therefore “change is the only way to help the party to rekindle grassroots enthusiasm”.

He noted that, his grassroots driven vision and vast experience as a communicator will enable him provide the leadership needed to make the NPP attractive especially to the youth.

The General Secretary hopeful said the NPP has the greatest and most relevant political philosophy for the benefit of Ghanaians if given the nod as the General Secretary assured to leverage technology for the good of the party all levels.

Richard Ahiagbah has served as the diaspora’s mobilization coordinator for the Chicago Chapter in the 2016 elections, and his commitment to the party is known both in the United States and at the party headquarters in Accra.

He is a registered voter in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency of the Greater Accra in Ghana.

Meanwhile, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the NPP is scheduled to go to Congress to elect National Executive Officers between June 15 and 17, 2018, after ongoing internal primaries.
