Mr Akwasi Boateng Adjei, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (MLG&RD) has engaged heads of decentralised departments and staff of the Afram Plains South and North District Assemblies to familiarise with them.

The engagement was to know the priorities the Assemblies had put on government programmes such as the planting for food and jobs, planting for export, rural development, one-district-one-factory and dam and it's implementation.

It was also to know the development agenda of the districts, how they can improve their Internally Generated Funds to support government funding and the kind of developments they were pursuing.

Mr Adjei inspected on-going market projects at Bruben community in the Kwahu Afram Plains North and presented start-up tools to 10 artisans who were trained in the district capital Donkokrom at Kwahu Afram Plains South.

He also met some temporary officers engaged to collect agricultural census data at Donkokrom.

Addressing staff of the Assemblies, the Deputy Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for New Juanin South charged them to use their expertise in promoting the development of their various Assemblies and urged them to be dedicated, punctual to work and avoid absenteeism.

Mr Adjei said the commitment and dedication to work of Assembly staff was the only way they could increase productivity and uplift the image of their Assemblies adding that as they were surrounded with tourist potentials they could attract investors and urged them to take advantage of the investment opportunities in the districts to promote development in all sectors.

Mr Adjei said the districts was surrounded by water bodies and had been a major source of revenue generation and charged them to develop their water sites to make them attractive for investors to leverage on.

He said the ‘Maama Kawkaw’ market was a major place that could be used to generate more revenue for the assembly and asked them to restructure and renovate it.

The Deputy Minister said farming along the lake side would also be attractive for residents of the area to promote their local economy and asked the Assemblies to prioritise their developmental needs and make budgetary allocations available for projects demanded by the people.
