A presidential hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Joshua Alabi has hit hard at the National Organiser of the party, Kofi Adams, for describing him as a “toddler” and “kindergarten boy”.
Mr Adams was reacting to comments by Professor Alabi that he (Kofi Adams) had incited party supporters to chase him and his supporters out of certain constituencies with machetes anytime they go about canvassing support for his presidential ambition.
“Kofi Adams met me in one of the constituencies in Krowor, [it was] reorganization. That day I didn’t speak, I financed the whole programme there, yes, and he came and he got the opportunity to talk but I didn’t talk, I didn’t campaign, he met me there.
“We went round… to listen to the problems of the constituency and see how best we could bring the warring factions together. While he was campaigning for somebody, he has asked people in other constituencies to take cutlasses and chase us out when we come in. This is the party that we have; these are the executives that we have. If we want the party to progress the way we want it to progress let’s do things properly,” Prof Alabi is reported to have said on Accra-based Class FM.
Responding to the allegation on the same show, Mr Adams said: “Truly, I asked people to chase anyone who comes asking for votes for flagbearership from their constituencies”.
But speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Monday, Professor Alabi wondered why Kofi Adams could make such proclamation.
“I am not a toddler and can never be. I am a man with so many ambitions and a visionary leader and so calling me a toddler is way below the belt,” he said.
He said he will never glorify Kofi Adams’ statement but will rather concentrate on his plan to lead the party regardless.
According to him, the NDC is a party that has executives and therefore for the party to progress, “we need to do things properly to see the party progress” he said.
