Amewu Leads Delegation To UN Forum

The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, John Peter Amewu, is leading a delegation to the 13th session of the United Nations (UN) Forum on Forests.

The meeting would take place at the world body’s headquarters in New York, beginning on Monday and end on Friday, May 11.

It would be discussing the implementation arrangements for the UN Strategic Plan for Forests (2017-2030).

A statement issued by the Ministry in Accra said Mr Amewu would deliver a keynote address on the Voluntary Partnership Agreement process in Ghana.
 
This would be at a side meeting jointly organised by Indonesia, Ghana and the European Union (EU).

He would also participate in a ministerial roundtable on the contribution of forests towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

He left Accra, last Friday, accompanied by Brigadier General Joseph Odei, Board Chairman of the Forestry Commission; John Allotey, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Commission; Abu Juam, Technical Director of the Commission and Mr. Joseph Osiakwan, the Chief Planning Officer and Ghana Focal Person for the UN Forum on Forests.
