The New Patriotic Party will from June 15 next month converge in the Eastern Regional Capital of Koforidua to elect national executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

A founding member of NPP, Hajia Ruka Saida Ahmed, a business woman who is into import and export and owner of fashion design company and a financier of the governing New Patriotic Party, on Tuesday, picked nomination forms to contest for the National Treasurer position of the party.

Speaking to the media after picking her forms, Hajia Ruka Ahmed touched on some thematic areas she will do for the party when the delegates honours her by voting for her in next month’s elections.

She indicated she is in to represent the grassroots as they are the heartbeat of the NPP, revealing how in 2016 election she sponsored four constituencies in the North out of which the party won in two of such constituencies.

She added again the help she rendered to 20 settler communities in the Ashanti, reiterating that she is coming to help the grassroots as they are the engine of the party going into 2020 elections.

The building cum road contractor also pledged to build a guest house for the party to serve party members and also use as meeting places for party activities.

She stressed that when given the nod as NPP National Treasurer, she will institute a welfare fund to cater for registered party members in times of difficulties; adding that the objective is to provide a ready, able and straightforward social support system to help NPP members in times of need.

She said each card bearing NPP member must subscribe to the scheme and be up-to-date with their dues to receive beneficiary support in time of need; thus, subscribers will receive support from the scheme for the following:

Education
Medical expenses
Loss of spouse, child, parent.

According to her, currently NPP has no formal arrangement within the party structure to swiftly respond to these situations in a timely manner when members find themselves in distress.

Hajia Ruka Saida Ahmed intends to formally incorporate this intervention in the NPP by making it an initiative to be implemented by the National Treasurer; hence pleading with the delegates to vote for her as the next NPP National Treasurer.
