The attention of the office of Alhaji Short has been drawn to a publication on Monday, 14th May, 2018 edition of ‘the PUBLISHER’ newspaper with caption: “BLAY BATTLES NTIM… ALHAJI SHORT TO CHICKEN OUT”.

The story asserts that Alhaji Short will quit the national chairmanship race either of his own volition or under duress from invisible “pushers”.

We wish to inform the delegates and members of the NPP and the Ghanaian public that the story is false and fabricated and a figment of the feverish imagination of the opponents and detractors of Alhaji Short. It is as authoratively fictitious as its headline is authoritatively flawed: Blay Battels Ntim. The fact that there is no such verb as “battels” in the English language underscores the big lie the story represents.

The story is unfounded, a barefaced lie. It is malicious, perfidious propaganda intended to derail the momentum the campaign of Alhaji Short has gathered as the national chairmanship race heads into its last lap. It should be disregarded or/and treated with the contempt it deserves. We know some newspapers make up salacious and sensational stories to stay afloat. We had no idea that fabrications were the stock-in-trade of the Publisher.

We are hereby asking 3Gh CONSULT, publishers of the PUBLISHER newspaper who published the fabrication without first verifying its authenticity, to do the decent thing of retracting the story.

We wish to assure all members, supporters, and sympathisers of the NPP home and abroad, all the well-wishers of Alhaji Short, and the Ghanaian public that Alhaji Short is in the national chairmanship race of the NPP to win it. His ASEMPA YE SHORT message is being received well by the king makers (the delegates) of our party. Our democracy allows for the people or their representatives – the delegates of the national conference in this instance – to decide upon whom they see as best able to serve the interest of the party. And, as God wills, ALHAJI ABUBAKARI ABDUL-RAHMAN (Alhaji Short) will submit himself to the will of the people in this contest in July 2018.
