The 2012 Presidential Candidate for the United Front Party (UFP) and a known businessman, Akwasi Addai, popularly called Odike, has taken issue with investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas style of investigation and says it goes against the laws of the country, and that the investigative Journalist must be arrested and prosecuted.

Odike’s argument is that the methods used by the Journalist is not constitutional but that “what Anas and his team did is not good and therefore they should be arrested and prosecuted.”

The UFP founder also contends that if Anas wanted to do an investigative work, there were rules he should have followed and not the way he went about it, saying that “there is a difference between investigating an alleged corruption which the person is caught doing something but not for him to have rather initiated the process and allegedly bribe the judges and capture it on camera as an investigative work of corruption against the implicated (sic)”.

He said, the method adopted by Anas is not allowed by the law. “It is not proper, we must not encourage it,” he said.

Akwasi Addai also called for the arrest and prosecution of all his team members. For him, “Anas is not BNI, neither is he Ghana Police nor the Military Intelligence, Anas is a private investigator, and therefore under no circumstance should he and his team engage in lawlessness.”

Anas Aremeyaw Anas will in the coming days be releasing another nerve cracking investigative piece about the corrupt deals in Ghana football.

The yet-to-be released video has led to the arrest and subsequent investigations of the President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Although many have lauded Anas for his bold initiatives, Odike’s opinion is the Anas has committed a blunder by ‘trapping’ Kwasi Nyantakyi with his persistent bribe offering, stressing that Kwasi Nyantakyi did no wrong.

“We all use the president’s name to eat…if I get the opportunity, I will use the president’s name to eat… We call them lobbyist and we all do same. When my white business friends came from Germany, I sent them to President Mahama and yeah, you know we all benefited.”

He called on President Akufo Addo to let this go saying, “He is our father and we all sin against our father one way or the other. The charge against him is civil and must be settled that way.”
