Stan Dogbe Was Inexperienced In Managing Mahama – Alban Bagbin

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alban Bagbin has suggested former presidential staffer Stan Dogbe was inexperienced in managing former president John Mahama.

According to the second deputy Speaker of Parliament, the expertise of Stan Dogbe was wrongfully utilized by Mahama during the last NDC administration, something he claimed, “contributed greatly” to the party’s loss in the 2016 elections.

Mr. Bagbin who has consistently been critical of Mr. Dogbe, in a yet-to-be aired interview with TV3 and 3FM said the former presidential staffer lacked the wherewithal in managing Mahama.

In his view, though Stan Dogbe has a great expertise in media, that was no trump card for him to have been made a presidential staffer.

“You know Stan Dogbe is very good when it comes to media, you can’t take that away from him, and he has amassed a lot of knowledge and experience in that area. He has a very good command of English language and he writes very very well,” Mr Bagbin said.

He however said “when it comes to managing a president, you need more than technical expertise and I think that it is not for nothing that people say experience is the best teacher, it’s not for nothing”.

Stan Dogbe has widely been blamed by some NDC members and political analysts for playing a key role in the loss of the NDC in the 2016 general elections.

Mr. Bagbin who is Nadowli Kaleo in 2013 raised issues about the way Stan Dogbe handled the presidency when he said: “If characters such as Stan Dogbe are those managing the President John Mahama then our president is naked”.

Asked by Media General’s Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah whether Stan’s conduct contributed in any way to the party’s defeat, he responded in the positive saying, “He did greatly; he did”.
He maintained that managing a President is job for experienced hands so he did expect the backlash he got for raising that issue.

“Wisdom comes from not just from knowledge but it also comes with hands on experience and so even the issue that I raised as at that time and received that blistering attack from him was surprising to me”, Mr. Bagbin said in the interview to be aired Tuesday, May 29.
