Presby Church of Ghana presents items to Orphanage

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Wednesday presented assorted food items worth 800 Ghana cedis and 200 Ghana cedis cash to the inmates of Teshie Orphanage in Accra. The items included confectionaries, cooking oil, bags of rice and toiletries. The Right Reverend Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, making the presentation said it formed part of the church's social responsibility to society. He appealed to Christians not to be concerned only with the physical needs of the people in their communities but their spiritual needs as well. "Christians should also learn to share the little they have with the less privileged during the festive season," he added. Mrs. Janet Parker, Proprietress of Teshie Orphanage receiving the items, thanked the church for its gesture and appealed to the local congregation of the Presbyterian Church to offer free education to some of the inmates. She appealed to organizations and individuals to assist the orphanage to complete its stalled housing project to increase the intake. The orphanage which started with 12 inmates about 14 years ago, now has about 100 inmates.
