"People Must Stop All This Premature Nonsense" - Kweku Baako To Ken Agyapong

People must stop all this premature nonsense," Kweku Baako replies Kennedy Agyapong on the latter's wild allegations about multiple award-winning investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Kennedy Agyapong has accused Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team of being evil and plotting the downfall of innocent people just in a bid to enrich themselves.

Debating the character of Anas on Adom TV's "Badwam", Kennedy Agyapong described the investigative journalist in unwholesome terms.

"The guy is not genuine. He's blackmailing people. He's extortionist, taking monies from people. He is evil. He’s an extortionist. He is a blackmailer.

"The guy shouldn't travel. The guy should not leave this country because I will take him on one on one and bring the evidence out. Because he's never been fair to the people that he has destroyed and institutions that he has destroyed in this country for taking monies..." he said.

He also challenged Anas to provide substantial evidence on his source of wealth.

According to him, the investigative journalist owns certain properties in the country which he used dubious means to bamboozle his victims to acquire and also evades the payment of taxes.

He made mention of lands, estates and a Pharmaceutical shop among others, and called for a probe into the supposed self-aggrandizement by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Mr. Agyapong also accused Anas' wife of importing tablets from Dubai without due diligence to the appropriate structures of importation, saying the investigative journalist has acquired vast assets by extorting monies and terrorizing people.

Addressing all claims by the Assin Central MP and NPP maverick, Kweku Baako sought to set the records straight and expose the lies of Kennedy Agyapong.

Kweku Baako told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo that Anas Aremeyaw Anas' credibility cannot be under question since the investigative journalist has since inception of his career been a law-abiding citizen.

Not unusual of him, Kweku Baako pulled out evidence to the panel on Kokrokoo on Wednesday proving that Anas has never evaded taxes but rather met his tax obligations by ensuring payment on the properties he owns.

"The issue of tax evasion, non-payment of tax or SSNIT contributions is not true. These are documented from 2014 to 2018”, he said.

He also admitted that Anas has, in his possession, lands and other assets but has not committed any fraud.

He said the constitution permits any citizen to acquire properties and so he challenged Kennedy Agyapong to give evidence to his claims that the investigative journalist’s illegal acquisition of properties.

Mr. Baako further refuted Kennedy Agyapong's claims that Anas' wife imports tablets from Dubai stating emphatically that “Anas has never put a tablet in his bag and brought it, from anywhere to Ghana, for the lady. No! It hasn’t happened. She imports her things from China; so, it will go through normal custom” procedure.

Also, Anas never did any project in Dubai and so there is no video as purported by Mr. Agyapong of Anas' work in Dubai.

That’s fake. There’s no such video. There was no such project”, he stated.

He disclosed that Anas owns a land at Trade Fair which has some litigation and has become a legal case.

But Anas, he added, has his name on all documents of his assets.

“All the documents I am showing you have Anas’ name and signature on them. So, it is not as if it is hidden. It is not somebody who’s holding it on his behalf. His own name is there. His signatures are there”.

Kweku Baako wants Kennedy Agyapong to know that Anas is no stranger to him as he (Kennedy Agyapong) put out on Adom TV.

There was a time I didn’t know him but Anas came to me in 1997/98 as an intern from the GIJ. He chose to come and work with the Crusading Guide then and he came and we accepted him. He was supposed to finish the internship and go. When he finished, he said [Sir] I feel comfortable here. I want to work here. Today, he’s not just a reporter or the acting Editor-in-Chief. He’s actually a co-owner. He owns 40% of Kweku Baako Media Limited. I own 60 percent. That’s how far he’s risen…” he said.
