UT fetes pupils of Grace Educational Centre

UT Financial Services has entertained pupils of Grace Educational Centre in a pre-Christmas party, as part of the company's commitment to the community within which it operates. The company adopted the school, which caters mostly for underprivileged children, last year in line with its corporate social responsibility to the vulnerable in society. Currently, the school enrolls 160 children, whose parents are mostly traders and porters. Ms Juliana Naadu Tetteh, a teacher at the academic facility said the school had been providing a social service by charging affordable fees to maintain the education of the children. She said accommodation was a major threat to their operations and called on government to provide land to enable them expand their reach. Meanwhile, UT Financial Services has also donated cheques, totaling GH27,000.00 to six non-governmental organisations, to enhance their activities. The highest donation of GH6,000 went to Hope for Kids Club, a charity, which gives full educational bursary to needy children. The Ghana Heart Foundation, Ghana National Trust Fund and the Ghana Society for the Blind each received GH5,000 to support their programmes for the vulnerable in society. The remaining two organisations, Family Outreach Ghana and Light Outreach Foundation, received GHC3, 000.00 each. The Director of Operations, Capt. Budu Koomsom (rtd) said it was the tradition of the company to give back to society. He said the company had followed with keen interest the development and progress being made by the institutions in their respective roles to make life better for the needy in society. "We see the work that is being done and we are happy to support your cause. We hope this will push your good work," he said, adding that UT was providing the support so that as many people as possible could get assistance from the institutions that received the donation. He urged other companies to emulate UT's efforts to help cater for the less privileged in society. The representatives of the beneficiary institutions expressed their gratitude to UT for the assistance.
