Five-member Parliamentary Delegation Visits Ghana's Mission In South Korea

A 5-member delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Parliament led by the Chairman of the Committee and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Hon Frank Annor Dompreh has embarked on a visit to the country's mission in South Korea as part of the oversight duties of Parliament.

Other Members of the delegation are: Hon Kwaku Ampretwum Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the Committee and MP for Mampong; Hon Dr Francis Bawaana Dakura, MP for Jirapa; Hon Dr. Clement Apaak MP for Builsa South and Hon Patrick Yaw Boamah MP for Okaikwei Central and Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation.

The delegation discussed a wide range of issues with officials of the country's mission such as economic diplomacy, staff welfare and attitude towards work, rendering efficient service to Ghanaians in South Korea and ensuring proper maintenance of the country's properties at the missions .

Speaking at the meeting, Hon Frank Annor Dompreh said the President Nana Akufo-Addo has the interest of Ghanaians in the diaspora at heart.

"The President is working tirelessly to address concerns of Ghanaians living abroad such as the high cost of clearing goods at the port," he added .

He therefore advised Ghanaians abroad to give the President their maximum support to realise his vision for the country.

"There is the need for the country to acquire its own properties (buildings) in countries where it has strong bilateral relations rather than renting buildings for its missions in those countries," Hon Frank Annor Dompreh added.

He also suggested to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take steps towards a review of the conditions of service of staff of the country's missions which have remained same for the past 25 years .

The delegation has already paid similar visits to Ghana's missions in Belgium, France and the United States of America and will be embarking on similar visits to the country's missions in China, Nigeria, Kenya and Rwanda as part of the oversight duties of Parliament.
