Zylofon Cash To Terminate Ghana Premier League Sponsorship Deal?

Headline sponsors of Ghana’s top-flight football, Zylofon Cash, say they may pull out of their contract with the Ghana Football Association if its officials are found guilty in the ongoing investigations.

Zylofon Cash Public relations officer Halifax Owusu-Ansah has warned the Ghana Football Association to clear themselves or risk losing the ten-year deal for the Ghana Premier League.

This comes after the FA's President Kwesi Nyantakyi and some other FA officials have been caught on tape taking bribes from TigerEye PI undercover investigators who disguised themselves in various forms.

Nyantakyi has been charged with defrauding by false pretences for using the name of the country’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo to negotiate for a business deal.

Greater Accra Regional football association chairman, Eddie Doku and Kofi Manu were also captured accepting bribes to influence selection into the national teams and issues regarding player’s eligibility.

“If it so happens that the investigations affect the whole organisation [GFA] or the leaders so much so that the league cannot continue, then we may review the contract and opt out,” Halifax told Citi FM.

According to him, the contract signed with the football governing body is not a closed ended one and should there be the need for them to opt out, they will gladly do so.
