A RENOWNED peace campaigner, Christopher Owusu Marfo, aka Ghanaba, has called on government to hunt down corrupt officials and make them face prosecution.
For him, this is a solution not only to the problem of corruption but also to solve poverty in rural communities and the conflicts that have claimed the lives of many innocent Ghanaians.
He said Ghanaians wanted to see more action rather than words since corruption has become endemic, permeating every facet of society including the parliament, judiciary, police service, among other state institutions.
“The Ghanaian youth should rise and say enough is enough to people toiling with their future. Let us get rid of people who are making children to suffer from disease and hunger while they fatten their bank accounts with the nation’s resources,” he remarked.
Ghanaba made the remarks when he made a stopover during his voluntary nationwide peace and unity sensitization tour in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, to take part in the two years’ anniversary celebration of Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI.
He said Ghana had no place for the growing culture of bribery and corruption, which had destroyed many nations and kept Africa in poverty in the midst of abundant resources.
According to him, the state must demonstrate enough political will to change Ghana’s current situation for the better now that the reality has dawned on the nation.
Ghanaba wants all stakeholders, including civil society groups and the media, to take a pro-active stance to condemn and unveil corrupt undertakings in order to build a nation where honesty abounds.
He praised the Bantamahene for his selfless leadership skills and commitment to bring about development to his people since he ascended to the stool.
