GIS Takes Another Stride Towards Strategic Plan

The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, has inaugurated a 10-member committee for the implementation of the Five Year Strategic Plan of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at its National Headquarters in Accra.

The CGI charged the committee to discharge its duties efficiently, and ensure all deliverables in the plan see the light of day. He added that the successful implementation of the plan would satisfactorily actualize the vision of the GIS of delivering excellence in security and migration management for national development.

“Let us keep up to the goal of making the GIS a formidable and foremost institution in Migration and Security Management in the sub-region, collaborating with neighbouring countries to fight terrorism and other trans-national crimes” he noted.

Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi counselled the committee to pay attention to some of the key areas of the plan such as Infrastructure and Equipment; Information and Communication Technology (ICT), adding that these would speed up and enhance the computerization of the GIS operations as well as meet the residential and office accommodation needs of the Service.

He indicated, “I will keep you on your toes and give you the necessary pressure to ensure that you stay active, alert, and focused on the task ahead of you.”

The Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Commissioner of Immigration, (DCI) Eric Afari, on behalf of its members, assured the CGI of their diligence and commitment to the realization of the plan, and that they would ensure that all timelines for the implementation processes are met.
