Ban On Foreign Trips “Excellent”…Some Trips Are “Completely Useless” – Baba Jamal

A former Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations in the Mahama-led government, Baba Jamal has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his decision to temporarily ban foreign trips by all government appointees.

The NDC man was emphatic that the move is an “excellent” one by the president that will save the country millions of cedis.

To him, some trips by government appointees are “completely useless” and a waste of state resources.

I have worked at five ministries and I know what I am talking about. Some ministers will take as many as 15 people to just a trip and they go there to do nothing. This is a good policy by the president,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

A communiqué announcing the travel ban has been issued by Chief of Staff Frema Osei-Opare, to all Ministers, Deputy Ministers; Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as well as all heads of government institutions.

The ban excludes only the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.
