EC Boss Removal: We Were Not Motivated By Politicians – Petitioner Claims

One of the leaders who petitioned against the Electoral Commissioner and her two deputies has disclosed that their move was not backed by any political party.

Godsway Dadzo was emphatic on Peace FM’s Midday News that their decision to petition the President was made based on the EC’s modus operandi and not motivated by any political party as purported.

“It sounds strange to me when I hear people trying to read political meanings into our petition against our former bosses. It was purely based on a principle, that’s why we are bold to speak the truth. We were neither sponsored by the NPP nor NDC and I emphatically state that no political party forced us to send the petition,” He told Peace FM's Nana Yaa Konadu.

Godsway Dadzo also noted that Mrs Charlotte Osei’s overlook of procurement practices provoked their petition.

“Mrs. Charlotte Osei’s procurement practices were extremely questionable because most of the monies approved by the Public Procurement Authority were doubled at the time they got to the office of the Electoral Commission. One clinical case was when the Public Procurement Authority approved $7.5million for some projects but the figure shot up to $14.8million,” he emphasized.

Adding that, “All the petitioners were alive except Adzavu Kawe who passed away six months ago. As a result of his demise, our detractors used that as a propaganda tool to misinform the public that the petitioners included dead people. But the truth of the matter is Adzavu Kawe signed the petition before he passed away”.

The country currently awaits President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s appointment of a new Electoral Commissioner to replace the sacked Mrs. Charlotte Osei.
