Mr Ambrose Dery, Member of Parliament for Lawra-Nandom, on Friday called on his constituents to bury their political differences and forge ahead for the development of the area. "Political elections are constitutional and democratic rights of citizens of every democratic country," he said and added that it was important that soon after elections both winners and losers come together to promote development. Mr Dery said this when he hosted about a thousand people in the Lawra-Nandom. He said the days when losers sat behind and criticized the winners were past and modern politicians needed to work according to the pace and dictates of time in order to achieve their goals. "Whether you belong to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) or the Peoples National Party (PNC), elections are over and we as a people need to come together to find lasting solutions to diseases, hunger and ignorance. He said diseases, hunger and ignorance are man's enemies and rather than wasting energies on personal attacks that would not bring any development, people should unite so bring solutions to these problems. The meeting with the people was one of the many events the MP, who is also the Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament, organizes in order to make his vision and goals clearer to his people. Mr Dery said the fact that he won the parliamentary seat under the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), does not make him the MP for only constituents of the party. "It is true I won the Parliamentary election under the ticket of the NPP, but it is those in other political parties who can offer me constructive criticisms and advice for us to move forward in our developmental search," he said. He appealed to the leaderships of various parties in the constituency, not to hesitate to point out his shortcomings to enable him to serve them better. Mr Dery also asked the youth to continue to support their political leaders and eschewed mayhem and bloodshed, which are inimical to the growth of democracy and good governance.
