'She Insulted Koku And NDC' & Dealt With Hanna Tetteh On IEA Debate - Ofosu Ampofo Fires Jean Mensa

Director of Elections of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Amofo has thrown salvoes at the nomination of the Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa as the new Chairperson for the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to him, Madam Jean Mensa is more than likely to act in favour of the ruling NPP.

He said the NDC as a party does not have any issue with her competency or qualification, but rather, her biased nature towards the NPP.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said the President's nominee must be someone who is unbiased and not affiliated to any party, unlike this nomination.

Chronicling some events that happened some 3 years ago, he said the NDC were part of the IEA’s political party platform but they boycotted due to Jean Mensah's inclination towards the NPP and her posture on certain issues.

“It undermines the credibility of the whole Electoral Commission,” Samuel Ofosu Ampofo told Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Peace FM’sKokrokoo’, Tuesday morning.

He said the President should not have settled on someone who has a big issue with their biggest political opponent, as there are many Ghanaians qualified for the job.

“Today, when you google (Jean Mensah), you will see the running battle the NDC has had with the woman . . . you know the NDC pulled out of the IEA presidential debate because of the woman’s posturing and certain things she said. It got to a time she even insulted Koku Anyidoho and the NDC,” he alleged.

Asked about the specifics of the running battle they had with the IEA Boss, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo declined to go into details but gave the assurance that at the appropriate time the party would come out to state those facts.
