Govt Plan To Move 2018 Africa Women’s Championship Host Venues To Kumasi And Tamale

Government have written to the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to have a change of venue for the 2018 Africa Women’s Nations Cup.

A letter was written to the continent’s football governing body to consider accepting plans to have the venues from the Accra and Cape Coast to Kumasi and Tamale.

The Accra and Cape Coast stadia were selected to be the host venues for the competition which begins in November.

However reports say CAF’s inspection team were not satisfied with the progress of work currently ongoing at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This has forced government to request for a change of venue placing the Kumasi and Tamale Stadia on standby as alternatives.

The Obuasi Len Clay Stadium has also been mentioned as another alternative should the distance between Kumasi and Tamale become an issue.

Ghanasportsonline.com gathers that South Africa has been placed on standby should Ghana be stripped off the hosting rights.

Ghana was handed the opportunity to host Africa’s Women’s flagship football competition for the first time two years ago.

The Local organizing committee headed by Madam Fred Prempeh few months ago launched the competition at the Alisa Hotel in Accra
