TMA Turning Into A Scrap Yard

The premises of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) is gradually turning into a scrap yard were abandoned vehicles and their parts are kept.

Mr Francis Daniel Mills, Assembly Member for Sahara Electoral Area, in Tema Community Eight, said this on Thursday during the TMA’s General Assembly meeting.

Mr Mills said even though they complained about the state of the premises during its previous meetings, the Assembly was yet to work on it.

He added that “today I have noticed that two cars have been added, an abogoyaa and one other”

He also alleged that “the PM’s office is full of rodents who run in an out of the place”.

The Ghana News Agency observed that a broken down tricycle loaded some wood slabs, some vehicle engine, metals and piles of tyres were parked on the premises.

Some residents mostly men had also turned the immediate surroundings and the back of the Assembly’s new block into a urinal making the entire place smelly.

Reacting to Mr Mill’s concern, Mr Joseph Korto, Presiding Member of TMA, told the GNA that even though his office was not in good shape, it was not true that rodents had taken over it.

Mr Korto added that he had written to the Assembly to renovate the office, which he noted the Chief Executive and Director had worked on and directed the estate department to assess the situation and remedy it.

Touching on the unkempt premises, he explained that the abandoned items were seized by the Assembly from some dealers who were yet to reclaim it.

He indicated that they were being kept at the premises due to the availability of maximum security adding that the owners had been contacted to come and settle their fines and cart them from there.
