Ensure Peaceful Observance Of Homowo Festival – Minister

Mr Ishmael Ashietey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister has called on the chiefs and people of Ga Mashie to ensure a peaceful observance of this year’s Homowo Festival.

He also urged the people to tolerate each other’s view in the performance of the customary rites, which precedes the celebration of the festival.

Mr Ashietey made the call when he led a delegation of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to present food items and assorted drinks to Nii Lantei Otanka II, Lante Djanwe Mantse, towards the celebrations in Accra.

The items include six bags of maize, six gallons of oil, five crates each of minerals and Guinness, 20 cartons of bottled water, one carton each of schnapps and gin, four bottles of whisky and an amount of GHC3,000.

The Minister advised the chiefs and people to ensure that the Homowo is celebrated peacefully and assured the people of Lante Djanwe of Government’s support to ensure peace during the festival.

Nii Lantei Otanka, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the Government and called for unity among the people of Ga Mashie.

He appealed to the citizenry to eschew all forms of negative behaviours that could disturb the beauty of this year’s festival.

Nii Otanka called on the indigenes of Lante Djanwe, both home and abroad, to contribute towards the development of a modern palace in Accra.

The Lante Djanwe is the home of the Dantu Wulomo, who reckons the days and months to announce the Homowo Festival for the Ga State.
