John Dumelo Rescues Needy On New Year Eve

Baritone voice actor John Dumelo on New Years Eve donated items worth over GH1000 to the childrens unit of Battor Catholic Hospital, located off the Aflao-Tema Highway. The donation is part of his planned chain of activities this year to give back to society. John put smiles on the faces of the children at the unit, most of whom have ambitions to be actors as well. Among the items he gave were bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, biscuits, tins of Milo, milk, tin tomatoes, sardines, sugar, drinks and children clothing, among others. He also donated a cash amount of $500 to the children. It is actually my New Year gift to these children who need support from people like us. They always look up to us as their source of encouragement. I think most of us are in a position to help them and that is exactly what I have done. I am happy for not only being with them, but to have impacted their lives, John told BEATWAVES on Sunday. The tall, talented actor said he chose the Battor Catholic Hospital because he learnt of their appeal from individual philanthropists. He however indicated that that was just the beginning as there is more to come. John revealed that in February this year he is set to contribute to other organizations. This, he said, will involve distributing text books, story books and other learning materials to certain deprived schools to urge children to be serious with their education. John, who is currently in Nigeria, left Ghana on Monday morning to continue working on movies he started filming in November 2009. He is expected to return soon to attend the premiere of Abdul Salams new movie Chelsea.
