Lay firm foundation for the child's education-Mrs. Biney

Mrs. Benedicta Naana Biney, Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, has stressed the need for quality education in the development of children. She called on parents to cooperate and collaborate with teachers to ensure that their children had a firm foundation in education. Mrs. Biney was addressing the 10th anniversary of Roka International School at Fise near Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday under the theme: "10 years of quality education, the role of Roka International School". She advised the pupils to take their studies seriously to justify the investment their parents were making to ensure that they got educated. Mr. Anthony Osei, Administrator of the School, said the Roka International School, which was started with one pupil at Nsawam, now had 500 pupils enrolled. He said the institution had an early Childhood unit, Primary School and a Junior High School Departments. Mr. Osei stated that out of the 14 candidates presented for the Basic Education Certificate Examination last year, eight had aggregate six obtaining Grade One in 10 subjects. He appealed to the parents to visit the school of their children regularly to follow their pace of development. As part of the anniversary, the school presented food items estimated at 1,000 Ghana cedis to the Buruli Ulcer Clinic at Amasaman. It has also provided a garage estimated at 1,500 Ghana Cedis to the Police at Amasaman. In a football match, as part of the celebration, Parents Eleven defeated Teachers 2-1
