A former flagbearer of the now-defunct National Reform Party, Goosie Tanoh, has described Ghana’s healthcare and education system as one which is in crisis.

Mr. Tanoh made this comment while highlighting challenges facing the country under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

“This country has great potential and gradually, we will get there with the right leadership. Our education is in crisis, our healthcare is in crisis. There is the need to adopt the right policy choices,” he said.

Goosie Tanoh broke away from the NDC ahead of the 2000 election to form the National Reform Party which failed to make any impact in the election which was won by the New Patriotic Party’s John Agyekum Kufuor.

He’s seeking a return to the NDC to contest for the presidency.

Speaking on Citi TV’s Point of View, the former Reform Party leader indicated that he had taken into consideration the level of impunity and injustice and decided to contest to save the situation.

Disability not an impediment

Commenting on NDC MP, Alban Bagbin’s recent description of some appointees’ disability, Mr. Tanoh said people’s disability should not be an impediment to them occupying public offices in the country.

According to him, the intellectual competence of every Ghanaian should be the benchmark for appointment and not physical abilities.

Alban Bagbin has been widely slammed for questioning why Mahama appointed a blind person and a stammerer to serve as ministers.

He believes the country needs to harness the capabilities of all for national development.
