Crystal Palace Boss Furious With Swansea City Over Jordan Ayew

Roy Hodgson finds it disturbing that the loanee's parent club want him out of Tuesday's encounter

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is unhappy by Swansea City's insistence on the exclusion of on-loan striker Jordan Ayew from Tuesday's clash between the two clubs in the League Cup.

The two sides are set to face off in a second round fixture at the Liberty Stadium.

Palace, however, have worries over personnel. After playing Watford in the Premier League last Sunday, The Eagles are billed to lock horns with Southampton on Saturday after Tuesday's cup tie. Hodgson fears his players may suffer from burnout, a situation that makes him frustrated by the exclusion of yet-to-debut Ayew, who joined Palace from Swansea on loan earlier this month.

“I think we will have to use our [regular] squad [to play the game]," the former England manager said, as reported by Mirror.

“Swansea have very kindly insisted on the game being played on Tuesday despite us playing on Sunday.

“They have also insisted that we can’t play a player [Ayew] that we have paid money to loan. That’s another player we can’t use.

“So we won’t have too much option unless we are prepared to play Sunday, Tuesday, Saturday and I don’t think there will be too many Premier League teams looking forward to playing their first teams in those situations.”

Ayew is still chasing his first appearance for Palace, having watched all three league games so far from the sidelines.

As things stand, the 26-year-old would have to wait until Saturday to have a chance of making his much-anticipated bow.

He joined the Eagles, having insisted on playing elite division football after the Jack Army's relegation from the Premier League last season.
