Amewu's Move To Energy Ministry Is Best For Ghana- NPP Man

Many Ghanaians and watchers especially on the energy sector of the country, continue to hail the eventual appointment of Mr. Peter Amewu as Minister for the Energy ministry.

Even though the energy ministry seems to be one of the hottest and a very delicate sector, majority of the populace believe that the president has clearly shown leadership by replacing Mr. Agyarko, with an equally best person to handle the ministry.

And, for Mr. Andy Nana Yaw Owusu, an aide and Programmes Manager for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP, the exploits exhibited by the former Lands and Natural resources minister in maintaining greater discipline in combating illegal mining, is a clear indication that he can work effectively at his new office.

In the view of the Programmes Manager, as a result of the leadership of Mr Amewu, majority of the country's water bodies and other natural resources which were polluted as a result of galamsey activities, are fast returning to normal.

"It was difficult but he did it... It took boldness and daring approach to end galamsey which is a highly orchestrated money-making scheme by people in higher places. He has been able to wage that war and succeeded in ending it and this same approach is urgently needed at the energy ministry" the regional chairman's aide said.

However, Mr. Owusu had this advice for Peter Amewu on how to win at the new ministry; he wants him to remain resolved, fair and firm in dealing with all issues while ensuring greater diligence.

"We all know the ministry and the level of tension over there. As a very key and strategic economic sector of the country, he has to be vigilant, assertive...he must carry the kind of discipline he exhibited at his former ministry and ensure he settles in quick."

Andy Owusu says he has high hopes that Mr Amewu will succeed and make the president as well as Ghanaians proud, urging him to live above reproach.
