Mr. Cletus Avoka, Minister of the Interior Member, on Friday presented 20 wheel chairs valued 2,400 Ghana Cedis and a cheque of 20,000 Ghana cedis to the Zebilla Hospital. The amount that was part of the MP Fund from the National Health Insurance Scheme would go to the Zebilla Health Directorate for the improvement of the Teshie Community Health Centre in the Bwaku West District. Presenting the Wheel Chairs to the District Health Directorate, Mr Avoka, who is also MP for Zebilla constituency, said he solicited assistance from Hope Centre and Ministry International, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), to secure the wheel chairs for physically challenged people. He appealed to the health Directorate to ensure that the physically challenged benefited from the wheel chairs and to use the money for the intended purpose to facilitate health delivery in the area. Mr Avoka commended the management and staff of the hospital for their dedication to work that had improved upon health delivery in the area. Mr. Avoka said because he was committed to the improvement of health in the area, he supported the establishment of Teshie and Zongoyire health posts among others. The District Director of Health Services, Madam Mary Stalla Adapesa, who received the chairs and the cheque, commended Mr Avoka for his contribution towards the development of health in the area. She appealed to the MP, NGOs, and citizens from the area to help expand health facilities and expressed worry that currently three to four sick children share one bed at some health facilities in the area. The District Chief Executive, Mr. Adam Imoro Anaba said because government was more committed to improving the health sector it would rehabilitate all Community Health based Compound Centres in the Upper East Region. He said the District Assembly has been sponsoring students of Nursing Training Colleges to improve health delivery.
