"We Would Hand Over Accra Sports Stadium In October" - Inspector Engineer

Mr Osei Bediako, the Structural Inspector Engineer, at the Accra Sports Stadium, has said, they would hand over the facility to the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS), by the end of October.

Mr. Bediako, in an interview with GNA Sports, said work was almost done at the stadium and the facility would be ready by before the commencement of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AFCON), in November.

Asked if he was ready for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team on their next visit to Ghana, Mr Bediako said they were ever ready to meet the team, since much work has been done.

“We are handing over in October because we know the game is in November and we are would finish September. What would be left would be some minor repairs to be done in October.
“Unless the CAF is expecting other things, which we are not aware of, but aside that, the stadium would be ready in no time and I am rest assured,” he said.

The renovation, which began some months ago has seen some improvements, with the score board almost ready for fixing, whilst the VIP section, is also near completion.
"I dont see why Ghana cannot host the competition.

“Ghana is 100% ready and if we are talking about hosting, I don’t think we have a problem concerning the stadium, because the VIP session, which is the most important area is almost ready and by the end of September, it would be over so I don’t see why the hosting can’t be done here.

“What is left is cleaning and painting for now so we don’t have much to do,” he said.
The 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations would be held in Ghana and is expected to start from November 17 to 1 December.
