Five Killed In Juaso Gory Accident

Five people, including two staff of the Forestry Commission, have been killed in a vehicular accident.

They were said to be travelling from Juaso in the Asante Akim South Municipality of the Ashanti Region to Atwedie.

The driver of the taxi registered AS 6720–17 and four passengers died in the crash on Sunday night at Juaso along the Kumasi-Accra Road, an eyewitness Kwame Amponsah said.

Dennis and Yaw Kenya, staff of the Forestry Commission Department at Juaso, the cabbie, nicknamed Adaka, as well as unidentified woman and man died instantly.

The eyewitness told DAILY GUIDE that the taxi collided with the STC bus with registration number GE 773–16 from Accra direction after the driver attempted to overtake another car.

Mr Amponsah narrated that the occupants of the taxi were travelling home when the accident happened around 7:15 pm.

He added that some passengers onboard the STC bus sustained various degrees of injury in the accident that caused traffic on the road for hours.

The eyewitness stated that officers of the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces responded to the emergency situation quickly.

“There was nothing they could do since all five died instantly,” he affirmed.

He added that the injured persons and bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Juaso Government Hospital.
