Double Track Is The Solution Now

The Most Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Primate and Metropolitan Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana and Anglican Bishop of Kumasi has called on Ghanaians to support government in the implementation of the double track system.

He said the system was a perfect solution to a critical situation confronting the nation following the implementation of the free Senior High School (SHS) which had significantly increased enrolment.

Prof. Yinkah Sarfo who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the 19th Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi, said the move was the best way to accommodate the huge number of students.

“Celebrating 45 Years of Our Existence to the Glory of God: the Way Forward”, was the theme chosen for the four-day synod being held at the St. Cyprian’s Cathedral in Kumasi.

The Anglican Archbishop of Kumasi said government deserved commendation for the innovative way of addressing the problem instead of the widespread criticism.

He was of the view that the new arrangement was not going to affect quality of education in any way, adding that it was the same calibre of tutors and course content that would be at the disposal of the students.

He therefore entreated every well-meaning Ghanaian especially parents to rally behind government as it strived to make education accessible to all.

Touching on the controversy surrounding the construction of a national cathedral, the Man of God chastised those kicking against the laudable initiative, saying the cathedral had been long overdue and what even baffled him was how some Christians were opposing a monument that could host both religious and state events.

He declared the support of the Anglican Church to the project and charged government to go ahead with plans for the cathedral, expressing optimism that the entire Christian community would contribute to the funding.
