Member of Parliament [MP] for Juaboso Constituency in the Western Region, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government to come clear that the Chief of Staff’s sundry account created has not benefitted their government.

A former Communications Consultant at the Energy Ministry Edward Bawa, admitted that a transfer of GHc40 million from the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) was made to the presidency between August 2015 and early January 2017 in the name of the office of the Chief of Staff account, but was purposely done legally to settle fuel fees for the military and other security agencies.

“This fund was used for paying the cost of fuel for security agencies and other national security operations,” he said in a statement.

A decision was also made that the fund “be lodged in the Chief of Staff’s Sundries Account, the arrangement was that, BOST will supply fuel to GOIL and they will in turn supply to the Military as it was before until the level of indebtedness rose to a point that the Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs) stopped supplying fuel to them [military and other security agencies]”, Mr. Bawa recalled.

However, the Juaboso MP in a panel discussion on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme noted “it is never true that the money was managed and transferred into Julius Debrah’s account as members of the current government perceive, rather it is a strategy they [NPP] have intentionally adapted to rubbish the unlawful payment of some $3 million to Springfield Energy by the current MD, George Mensah Okley”.

He further dared the current government to prove that the former Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah created the account with a deadly motive and for himself, "when your government have used and benefitted in monetary terms from the account”.
