Weve Access To Funds...And Will Put Up A New Headquarters NDC Chair

The Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Adjei, says the party is now better off financially than compared to the situation when the NDC was in opposition. According to him, the NDC now has greater access to funds. Its true that when you are in government it is relatively easier, he stated, adding that the party stands a better chance of implementing most of its policies whiles in power now. Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Dr. Kwabena Adjei disclosed that the NDC will put up a new party headquarters this year to befit their status. He said the party has three different land areas in mind and was contemplating where to construct its new party headquarters. We are going to start this yearimmediately after congress, we have identified three locations and out of those three locations we are going to select oneWe dont think we need too much money, we have done I think one or two fundraising this year, so we have raised some money from it. If the party wants to raise money for its headquarters it will create a function and then invite people to it and they will donate, and that is legitimate, he stated. He added that this act of raising funds was not corrupt. We are not doing it behind the scenes, it is not corruption, we are raising money in other to build a head office. He dismissed the assertion that people might raise eye-brows at the putting up of a new party office complex, a few months into the Mills administration, saying that there should be no cause for alarm. Some party members are there; some are rich, some are not too rich, some are poor, some are very poor, and they want to see their party headquartersNDC people will see that we have a party, we have something, a symbolization of the party that we want to survive in this country from generation to generation he said. Dr Adjei led the party to wrestle power from the NPP after being in opposition for eight years. The incumbent chairman is being challenged by 68-year-old Architect Dr. Austin Asamoah-Tutu. Whilst Dr Adjei believes he can best handle the affairs of the NDC, Dr Tutu disagrees.
