NADMO Was Run As Household Property Under NDC - Nana Boakye

National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has slammed members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) who are stridently calling for both the resignation of NADMO boss and an apology from the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia over the expired products donation saga.

According to Nana Boakye, the NDC has no moral justification to demand the head of Agyeman Prempeh, the Director-General of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), much more an apology from the Vice President over the expired products which were donated to some flood disaster victims in the North.

Sammy Gyamfi, an NDC National Communication Officer Aspirant, had earlier on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, demanded that the Director-General of NADMO be sacked and the Vice President who led the delegation to distribute the said products, render an apology to the public.

But Nana B as affectionately called, reproached Sammy Gyamfi, for his loose-talk, and asked him not to lose sight of the fact that the items for the victims were in the care of the storekeeper and the store manager in the Northern Region.

No item was moved from Accra to the North by the Vice President and the NADMO boss. We keep the items in the regions so that we don’t have to carry any items and so it should have been the responsibility of the storekeeper and store manager to ensure the products are not harmful before distributing them to the victims,” he said.

The Vice President and Agyeman Prempeh visited several communities and made donations to victims, but it was only three communities which were unfortunate to receive expired products. I'm not justifying it, because it is still wrong even if one product was expired; we cannot entertain it,” he stressed.

The admission of guilt on the part of the store-keeper notwithstanding, Nana B insisted it was no justification for the NDC to bastardize the operations NADMO under the current boss as the situation was even worse under Kofi Portuphy NDC Chairman when he was NADMO boss.

NADMO under NDC Chairman Kofi Portuphy has received a bad image; in fact he was accused by former NDC Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Agyei of stealing NADMO items for his campaign and Kofi Portuphy didn’t deny the accusation. He was not sacked and no investigation was conducted because he was part of former President Mahama’s team,” he indicated.

Nana Boakye again said describing the deputy director of NADMO, Anita DeSoso by Kofi Portuphy was another indictment on the organization which further sank the image of the NADMO; but reiterated that the image of NADMO is now high under Agyeman Prempeh as those involved are being probed by a committee.

Sammy Gyamfi has no moral right to call for the resignation of NADMO boss because NADMO under NDC had no dignity. If there should have been an apology and resignation, it should have been Kofi Portuphy and former NDC Women Organizer . . . NDC ran NADMO as their household property and that is not what we are seeing under Agyeman Prempeh”.
