EDITORIAL: Time To Act

The indication that the Attorney General is about to commence the prosecution of persons who have allegedly caused financial loss to the state is certainly welcome news in many quarters. The general feeling around the country is that all those who may have dipped their hands into state coffers or mishandled public funds should be brought to book. The Attorney-General assures that her office has done diligent work and has collected vital evidence which will lead to conviction. We have no problem with this. Indeed if this is the case then the Attorney-General deserves commendation. The Insight however insists that all those who are likely to face prosecution should be given all they need to effectively defend themselves. We have no doubt that this is the time to bring corrupt elements to book. Its time to act.
