GIHOC Raises Concern Over Foreign Drinks

Board Chairman of GIHOC Distilleries company, Squadron Leader (Rtd), Ebo Bartels, has expressed grave concern about the influx of foreign alcoholic drinks into the country.

“Indeed, there are local hotels and restaurants in the country who patronize these foreign drinks, and yet refuse to sell or even display locally manufactured drinks on their shelves, and they do this without any sense of guilt; this is affecting the local alcoholic industry.”

He said, “As chairman of GIHOC, I have travelled the world over, and I have patronized the best hotels and restaurants, and I can say without mincing words that no country will tolerate this.”

Ebo Bartels made a passionate appeal to the Ministers of Tourism, Finance and Trade, to convince the operators of hotels and restaurants to stop their reliance on foreign drinks and patronize the local drinks.”

“I believe by doing this, the vision of the president to make Ghana a nation beyond aid shall be a reality and there will be savings in foreign exchange.  It is also our aim to boost export of our drinks in at less the West African sub-region to generate forex,” he emphasised.
