Delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) across the country on Saturday converged at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Feteh in the Central Region to elect leaders for the positions of National Women's Organizer and Deputies, as well as National Youth Organizer and their Deputies.
Former Member of Parliament for Tano South and one-time Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw, was elected the NDCs new National Women’s Organizer.
She beat the incumbent, Hajia Zaynab Joyce Mahama, as well as Hajia Tawa Zakari and Margaret Chiravira to take up the position.
At the end of a keenly contested election, Hanna Bisiw came up tops with 442 votes while Zaynab Mahama followed with 252 votes.
Maame Efua Sekyi, 271votes and Abigail Elorm, 249votes, will be her First and Second Deputy National Women's Organiser respectively.
In the other contest, George Opare Addo, aka Pablo, two-time Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North, won the National Youth Organiser position.
George, who is currently a Bachelor of Law candidate at the Ghana School of Law, polled 523 votes, while his closest challenger Brogya Genfi, could only garner 396 votes.
The third candidate in that contest, Wonder Madilo, could only secure a paltry 74 votes.
Edem Agbenya was voted as the First Deputy National Youth Organiser with 396 votes with Ruth Dela, securing the Second Deputy National Youth organiser position with 341 votes.
