Parliament on Tuesday resumed from recess for the Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic and are expected to tackle a number of bills and issues before the end of the year.

“It is therefore hoped that members have returned well invigorated for the business ahead of us, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said in the Business Statement for the week at the plenary in Accra.

Meanwhile, the House on Tuesday observed that there had been landmarks in the activities, noting the introduction of sign language in addition to the employment of research assistants to members.

Welcoming members back from recess, Speaker Prof Aaron Oquaye announced that there would be a meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to discuss the proposed creation of parliamentary enclave.

He urged members to avail themselves for a retreat in a week’s time on the revised Standing Orders of the House.

Meanwhile the Business Committee has proposed that the House started in earnest with the consideration of the Right to Information Bill, 2018, with the aim of completing its consideration before the introduction of the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government for the year ending 31st December 2019.

According to the Business Statement for this week, there would be a motion on Friday, November 2, 2018, to adopt the Report of the Committee of Privileges on Breach of Privilege and Contemptuous Remarks Allegedly Made by Mr Ken Ohene Agyapong, MP for Assin Central.
