The ruling government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday renewed its pledge to Ghanaians to tackle critical areas of the country�s socio- economic development, by addressing education, agriculture and health.
The party said it would re-energise and work harder to push �The Better Ghana Agenda� forward to continue to win the confidence of Ghanaians.
It therefore called on members to rededicate themselves to its core principles of probity, accountability and transparency to exert governance to the people.
This was contained in a resolution at the end of the three-day eighth National Delegates� Congress of the party in Tamale, which ended successfully to the admiration of President Evans Atta Mills who openly commended the people of Tamale and the country for conducting themselves well.
Read by Majority leader in Parliament Mr. Alban Sumanu Bagbin, the NDC thanked Ghanaians for entrusting the administration of the State into the hands of the party last year.
The party said it was re-committing itself to the global solidarity and concerns of climate change.
The resolution entreated Ghanaians to join government to build on the economy, which had seen improvement through the prudent measures put in place.
The NDC promised to engage members to broaden democratic governance, which had won the admiration of the international community.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission had declared the official results, which had seen the incumbent Chairman, Dr Kwabena Adjei and General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia retaining their positions with convincing votes.
Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings also won the Vice Chairman position overwhelmingly with five other members who are, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, Kofi Portuphy, Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Said Sinare and Danny Annan.
Mr. Kamel Noshie polled 1,501 votes as against the 350 votes secured by Mr. Yussif Abdel Adiss to become the National Treasurer.
Mr. Richard Quashigah polled 1,270 to beat Mr. Allotey Jacobs who obtained 437 votes for the position of National Propaganda Secretary.
Five members were also elected out of 15 candidates for the position of National Executive Committee members.
They are Mr. Abu Lamin Sadat, Madam Victoria Kuma, Mr. John Owusu Agyemang, Dr E.K Hayford and Mr. Richard Lantey Lawson.
Mr. Yaw Gyan and Madam Betty Agbornobor were declared unopposed for the positions of National Organiser and Deputy Organiser respectively.
Dr Adjei, the re-elected party chairman commended delegates for the confidence reposed in them by giving them a new mandate, which would end in four years.
He promised that the new executives would work in unity to promote the advancement of the party and the welfare of its foot soldiers.
With confidence of the NDC winning the elections in 2012, Dr Adjei appealed to members to forgive and forget all differences and forge ahead in unity.
