The First batch of Fifteen (15) beneficiaries of the Sports and Cultural Exchange Programme facilitated by the Rebecca Foundation, has returned to Ghana after a successful 10-day visit to China today.

The beneficiaries, drawn from SOS Schools in Tamale, Kumasi, Tema, Asiakwa, and other parts of the country, left Ghana for China on 20th October, 2018 to take part in a cultural and sports exchange programme facilitated by the First Lady and Founder of the Rebecca Foundation, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Education and Sports Bureau of Licang, and the Quingdao Belt and Road Collaborative Innovation College (BRCIC), last year.

Speaking to the media after their arrival, Press Aide at the Office of the First Lady Mr. Richard Darko who accompanied the students on the trip, described it as one which gave all the participants especially the students, the opportunity to broaden their scope on cross-cultural settings and offer them a deeper understanding of the international arena.

According to Mr. Darko, the programme afforded the Ghanaian pupils to engage in various sports and cultural activities with their Chinese colleagues including football matches, cultural dances and folklore. “Our Ghanaian team made us proud by winning the trophy in a soccer competition, beating the Quingdao Licang Experimental School by 10 goals to nil, among others”, he said.
