Black Santa Unveils‘’The Hope Scholarship Challenge’’  

As part of efforts to make higher education accessible to all brilliant and smart students who dream of one, Global Icons Agency in collaboration with Black Santa, a non-governmental organization has launched ‘’The Hope Scholarship Challenge’’.

(THSC) The hope Scholarship Challenge is the maiden tertiary scholarship project where graduates from senior high schools compete in the form of exam writing in order to have access to free tertiary education. The target is to enable many brilliant students the opportunity to have access to quality tertiary education without compromising on their academic efforts whiles in school, speaking at the launch, an executive member of Black Santa, Joana Boateng said the event could serve as part of the Corporate Social responsibilities.

‘’As beneficiaries of the Ghanaian educational system, we are aware of how much student’s desire for such opportunities especially in times of their needs, in this light we have identified the need to give students the opportunity to grab what every students wishes for, which is a scholarship. It is a heartfelt reality that pursuing a first degree in Ghana remains a dream for many brilliant students, which has not been fulfilled.This sparks all sort of anxiety in some youth and it pushes the youth in indulging in all forms of vices such as sakawa,students prostitution and blood money’’she added.

She further indicated that, ‘’we believe in helping provide education for people in need, we believe in the development of mother Ghana, we believe in providing quality education for all,we believe in the future of young people in Ghana’’.

She therefore called on all and sundry to make The Hope Scholarship Challenge a reality.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Opening of application begins from January,3 2019 to May 30,2019 at 5pm prompt. Awarding of students will be on order of priority based on the highest scored achieved. Applicant must have attended High School in Ghana and must have written WASSCE before writing THSC exams in the year of the award. Applicant must not be related to any board of Director or staff of THSC, for this presents a conflict of interest.

HOW TO APPLY
Application forms will be available at partner bank or from online for an amount of 150cedis.Applicants must write a letter of application and address it to the scholarship committee. The letter should contain a brief explanation about yourself and your plans (tertiary institution and intended major) Letters should not exceed one page.

EXAMINATION
The written examinations will come in four parts. The first part will consist of 100 general knowledge questions. The second part will consist of 50 critical thinking questions. The third part will consist of 30mathematics questions and the fourth part will consist of 20 fill-in questions.

RESULTS
Results will be published on the website www.blacksantaghana.org

GENERAL ELIGIBLE CONDITIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP COMPLETION
An Awardee
1. maintains good conduct as certified by the school authorities and continues his/her studies as a regular student.
2. Must not be involved in any gang whiles on scholarship
3. Must maintain at least 2.7 grade point average and must also complete 200 hours of industrial attachment.

AWARD
THSC will award qualified candidates approximately 13,500 cedis-18,000 cedis depending on the school of their choice.
